Last Saturday, 20 April, the Lycée Français de Vienne hosted the Vienna Science & Engineering Fair, organised by WiN IAEA in cooperation with INMM Vienna Chapter and UN-NYG. It was a day of innovation, intellect and inspiration as young scientists aged 12-18 from 12 different middle and high schools from Austria and neighbouring countries came together: Germany, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.

Under the overarching theme of CLIMATE SOLUTIONS, these young minds delved into a wide range of topics, combining science, engineering, politics and economics to address pressing global challenges. From computer science to environmental science, biological science to social science, 64 research projects illuminated the path to a sustainable future.

Best of Category and Special Awards were selected from projects that best reflected the theme.

Students and the public had the opportunity to visit the booths of sponsors and organisers. Nicole Dörr, representing the sponsor Austrian Tribology Society, gave a closer look at friction, wear and lubrication by a number of specimens which have attracted great attention.
