At its meeting on 20 September 2026, the Executive Committee of the International Tribology Council (ITC) decided to award the WTC 2030 to Germany and Switzerland.

The main congress is planned to take place in Munich from 16 to 20 September 2030 (organised by the German Society for Tribology), with a satellite meeting on tribochemistry and tribocorrosion in Zurich from 11 to 13 September 2030 (organised by the Swiss Tribology Association).
